AMC Consulting Services P/L is a private practice providing professional counselling services with rooms in Lane Cove.

Angela Cooley is the Principal Psychologist of the practice. She is a registered psychologist and has in excess of 10 years experience. She is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS), member of the APS College of Counselling Psychologists, member of the Australian Society of Rehabilitation Counsellors (ASORC), member of the Division of Independently Practicing Psychologists (DIPP) and an approved counsellor for the Victims of Crime Tribunal (VCT).

AMC Consulting Services provide psychological assessment and treatment services to individuals, as well as consulting to organisations.

The practice specialises in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). CBT has been proven to be a highly effective treatment for a wide range of conditions. CBT is usually a short term treatment with many people showing significant improvement within 10 sessions.

Other treatments include: Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Schema Therapy and Hypnosis.

At the first appointment, your psychologist will listen to your concerns and discuss with you what your best options for treatment are and what interventions will help, working closely with you to help you to develop skills to manage your particular concern. In some circumstances it may take between 2 or 3 sessions to gain a full understanding of the presenting issues.

 

Counselling sessions may be Short-Term (focussing on a single issue), Therapy (longer term focusing on long standing issues or more complex issues), or Coaching (involving development of goals and personal growth).

 

A typical counselling session involves talking, sharing, learning, confronting, laughing, crying, supporting, experimenting and growing.
